Commonly know as Amur maple or Crimson-leaved maple, this acer with bright foliage and red bark branches, often has palmately-lobed leaves and small flowers followed by characteristic winged fruits. Many have fine autumn colour, and some have ornamental stems.
A. tataricum subsp. ginnala is a bushy deciduous small tree with deeply 3-lobed leaves which turn deep red in autumn. During the spring, its small cream flowers are followed by red fruit. A nice addition to gardens to give late season colour interest.
